Malika Khanfar – Contemporary Sculpture

Malika Khanfar develops contemporary sculpture combining clay and industrial materials.

Mounted on heavy metal bases, her busts impose themselves with a presence full of meaning. By grafting clay faces onto mechanical parts, her works exist at the boundary between the mechanical and the organic.

Working on the theme of protection and self-protection, she combines clay with raw materials such as iron or leather. Repaired and safeguarded through incompatible assemblies, her biomechanical characters stand guard.

Sentinels, Vigies, Pharos, Bunkers: these armored figures inhabit a sensitive, hardened, relentless, and restrained universe.

Through the transformation of industrial objects — fire hydrants, electrical insulators, bolts turned into jewelry — her work pays homage to an industrial aesthetic, revealed through polychromy, cleaning, and patination.
